The University of Ottawa Urology Residency Training Program offers a comprehensive 5-year training experience that emphasizes a tight-knit family atmosphere and high-quality surgical education. Training

Research

Residents are expected to have at least one ongoing research project at all times, with support from a Director of Resident Research and opportunities for conference presentations and publications.

Training occurs across multiple sites in Ottawa, including The Ottawa Hospital (Civic, Riverside, and General Campuses), Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), and several regional hospitals.

The program follows a Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) approach, using Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) and milestones to assess resident progression through four stages of training: Transition to Discipline, Foundations of Discipline, Core of Discipline, and Transition to Practice.
